Comment on the picture of remotes. My understanding is this .. The one with NO triangle-shaped pointers on (far right) is first generation that does not work with new Smartlink /LivingColor /LivingAmbiance /protocol

Interesting !!!!

So i have a new Living Colur /smartlink is this possible to control via the CC2500. Are there any options to buy a ready and assembled unit ?

And are all Smartlink Philips lighting products of the same communication protocol ?

@Arturex: Nice find. I m afraid that just sniffing packets might not be enought tho because of the encryption.
I am reading up on vulnerabilities in Ti's z stack like http://travisgoodspeed.blogspot.com/2009/12/prng-vulnerability-of-z-stack-zigbee.html.
But im a high level programmer that hardly knows how to program a microship pic, so its prety hard for me.

Really interested in the possible new gen2 "smartlink" shield. I have 2 livingwhites hanging in my livingroom and was thinking of building an ethernet controlled version. Keeping an eye on this thread! :)

Greetings from Antwerp!

@Rde: I haven't read it with much care, but somebody has realized a low cost sniffer: http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2011/01/low-cost-zigbee-sniffer-made-with-o.html

I for one would be very interested in some Gen2 hack: I don't have any experience with Arduino (and it's been a while since I've soldered anything at all) but I'd definitely try to implement something like that.

Hi Marc,

Sorry you couldn't get your message through last time. The Gen1 lamps are getting scarse so I have not ordered any new parts for kits recently. I'll check to see if i have enough parts for a kit and contact you.

The Gen1 protocol was unencrypted and hacked by <a href="http://spritesmods.com/?art=main" rel="nofollow">sprite</a> (thanks Sprite !) by eavesdropping on the communication between the MSP430 and the CC2500. The Gen2 seems to be using Zigbee transport with encrypted payload which may be much much harder to decode.

I'm preparing some posts about the internals of the remote and adapters. And there are some things i'd like to look in to like the communication between the CC2530 and the Cypress touch controller, and I'd like to spend some time looking at the actual over the air trafic between the devices.
